Pisani Continues to Shine with the Slaughter

Oberlin, Ohio – Former Oberlin College football star Chris Pisani just started his third season with the Chicago Slaughter of the Indoor Football League (IFL), but he may be more famous in Chi-Town for his moves off of the field.

Pisani, who was a force on the Yeomen defensive line from 2004-2007, played a vital role on the Slaughter's perfect 14-0 season that resulted in an IFL Championship in 2009.

“Chris is one of our top linebackers,” Slaughter General Manager Glenn Graham said. “He is very aggressive, a good tackler and very versatile, all things you need to succeed in the arena game.”

Pisani's play is remembered amongst the Yeomen faithful as he is still the school's all-time sacks leader (22.5) and single-season sack leader (13.5/2005). He is also second all-time with 45 tackles for a loss. After starting every game for the Slaughter in 2010, Pisani had off season shoulder surgery, but displayed his toughness and character to be back on the field for week one this season.

Off of the field Pisani recently made a visit to a local boy scouts troop in the Chicago area to talk about life, football and school. “He absolutely killed it,” Graham said. “The kids absolutely loved him and were begging him to come back. Chris is always one of the first guys I turn to for community involvement.”

While Pisani certainly has reason to be noticed amongst Chicagoans for his play on the gridiron and work in the community, it's his Irish jig dancing at Chicago Blackhawks games that have made him a legend in his home town. (see video)

While he did his dance a few times in 2009, it was during the Blackhawks playoff run in 2010 when things really took off. During the second intermission, the song “I'm Shipping Up To Boston” by Dropkicks Murphys would come on and Pisani would pump up the crowd with his jig. He now gets requests to do it wherever he goes, while some may only know him as “The Crazy Dancing Guy”, Oberlin fans will always remember the beast that wore number 87. Currently the Slaughter is 2-1 this season. Their next game is Friday, March 25, against the Kent Predators. For more information about the slaughter visit http://chicagoslaughter.com/
