Baseball Drops Season Opener at Bluffton

Box Score

Bluffton, Ohio
– Freshman Mike McDonald had an impressive collegiate debut, but it wasn't enough as the Oberlin College baseball team dropped their season opener to Bluffton University 11-6 on Thursday afternoon.

McDonald went 3-for-4 with four RBI's as he belted a double and a home run in the Yeomen setback.

The Yeomen got things started by scoring two runs in to the top of the first, but the Beavers plated single tallies in the home half of the first and second to even things up.

An RBI double by McDonald in the fourth put the Yeomen back on top, but Bluffton responded with three runs in the fourth, two in the fifth, and three more in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Brandon Cantrill pitched four innings and took the loss.

Oberlin returns to action this weekend as they square off against Baldwin-Wallace and Ohio Christian.
