Oberlin, Ohio – On Friday evening the Oberlin College track and field teams hosted its final home meet of the winter before eventually returning home to host NCAC Indoor Championships in early March.
On Friday the Yeowomen placed second in the four-team field. Edinboro won the event with 185 points, while Oberlin finished 127 points. On the men's side, Oberlin went against just Edinboro and won 195-161.
The Yeowomen excelled in both the 400 and-800-meter events. In the shorter of the two courses Oberlin claimed the top two spots with
Sybil Levine touching the tape first at 1:01.21. Senior
Amanda Miller was right on her coattails at 1:01.23. In the 800 the underclassmen trio
Marissa Clardy (2:25.11),
Molly Martorella (2:27.52) and
Pearl Rivers (2:27.80) went 1-2-3.
The Oberlin foursome of
Sophia Brancazio,
Laura Vernon, Miller and Clardy also combined to win the 4x200 meter relay in 1:50.59.
On the men's end junior
Shawn Chrapczynski found his name at the top of the results sheet in two different events. The junior from nearby, Lorain, Ohio, won the 55-meter dash in 6.89 and the 200 meters with a mark of 23.60.
Reshard El-Shair was also double-event winner by taking top honors in the 400 meters (51.93) and 55-meter hurdles (8.23).
Senior
Ben Schild also added an OC win by completing the mile 4:24.88.
Next Friday members of the team will be split-up between the Greater Cleveland Championships at Baldwin-Wallace, the University of Akron Invite and the Boston University Invitational.
