Plethora of School Records Fall at B-W

– The Oberlin College track and field teams broke multiple school records on Friday evening at the Baldwin-Wallace College Mid-February Invite.

The men's team rewrote the record books in three different events on the evening. The first record to fall came in the weight throw as senior Josh Gallagher broke his own school record with a toss of 46-01.25.

Fellow senior Ben Schild also turned a record-setting run in the 3,000 meters as he completed the course in 8:47.29. Rookie Quinn Hull completed the trio of record-breaking performances by touching the tape in 2:32.52 in the 1,000 meters.

Junior Stephen Williams also added a win in the 5,000 meters with a mark of 15:26.30.

As a team the Yeomen placed third in the four-team field with 119.5 points.

Highlighting the Yeowomen effort was senior Laura Vernon who established a new school-best mark of 10-11.75 in the pole vault.

The foursome of Sophia Brancazio, Melissa Elie, Marissa Clardy and Amanda Miller just missed a school record in the 4x200 meter relay as they checked in at 1:47.56.

Clardy and Brancazio also had individual success on the night. Clardy was victorious in the 800 meters with a mark of 2:23.11, while Brancazio won the 200 in 27.11.

Rookie Margaret Lindman also won the 5,000 meters in 19:21.82. As team Oberlin was second with 192 points.

On Saturday at the Kent State Tune-up Meet, the women's 4x400 meter relay team of Clardy, Sybil Levine, Amanda Miller and Vernon were four seconds off their season-best time as they clocked in at 4:08.95.
