Box Score

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Tartans of Carnegie Mellon University proved to be too strong for the Oberlin College women's basketball team as they upended the Yeowomen, 69-46, on Friday night at Skibo Gym.

Sophomore Malisa Hoak netted a career-high 16 points in the setback, while junior Kelly Warlich continued to be a double-double machine with 11 points to go along with a game-high 13 rebounds. Lillian Jahan also chipped in by matching a career-high with nine points.

In the opening half, Oberlin kept things close in the early going as the game was tied at 12 with just over 12 minutes to go. Unfortunately from that point, the basket seemed to shrink on the Yeowomen as their offense went extremely cold as the Tartans closed the session on a 26-7 run to claim a 38-19 lead at the break.

In the second half, the game was never really in doubt as the Tartans led by no less than 19 over the final 20 minutes of play.

The Yeowomen shot a lackluster 32.8-percent (19-of-58) from the field, including a 4-of-15 effort (26.7%) from downtown. OC also shot a season-low 36.4-percent (4-of-11) from the free throw line. The Tartans checked in with a 42.9-percent (24-of-56) success rate in the win.

Oberlin will quickly have to put this one behind them as they go right back to work tomorrow afternoon at Allegheny College. Tip-time is set for 1 p.m.
