Springfield, Ohio - Wittenberg University scored 20 of the game's first 22 points and never looked back as it cruised to a 81-45 win over the Oberlin College men's basketball team on Wednesday night.
Josh Merritt was one of the few bright spots for the Yeomen as he finished with 11 points.
Mazi Farris also had a solid effort with six points and six rebounds.
The Tigers shot 72 percent (18-of-25) in the first half – including an 8-of-11 effort from 3-point land as they led 47-13 at the break. OC went just 4-of-22 (18.2%) in the frame.
The second half was much better for the Yeomen as they were narrowly outscored at 34-32 while making 12-of-26 shot attempts for a 46.1 percent success rate.
Wittenberg (8-4, 4-0 NCAC) had a 21-7 edge on the glass in the first half and finished with a 39-20 advantage at game's end. Shooting wise the Tigers ended at 56 percent (28-of-50).
Oberlin returns home to host Denison University on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
