Oberlin, Ohio – Sophomore
Andrew Fox recorded his eighth-career double-double and third of the season, but it wasn't enough as the Oberlin College men's basketball team fell to the visiting Wittenberg University Tigers 75-47 on Senior Day for the Yeomen.
Fox was the lone Yeoman in double-figures as he finished with a game-high 16 points to go along with 12 rebounds.
Pat Bernhard, one of two seniors to be honored before the game, cashed in three triple-hits for nine points. Fellow senior
James Tompsett got the starting nod and ripped down six rebounds and added four points.
Oberlin trailed 20-13 with at the 8:36 mark of the opening half, but the Tigers would close out the frame with a fury – using a 27-7 run to lead 47-20 at the break.
In what has become a recent trend, the Yeomen did play much better in the second half as the Tigers had just a slight 28-27 edge in scoring over the final 20 minutes of play.
The Tigers' size advantage was evident throughout the contest as they outscored the Yeomen 30-14 in the paint and out-rebounded them 45-26, which includes a 16-2 cushion on the offensive end.
Wittenberg (14-5, 9-1 NCAC), which had 10 different players score in the ball game, shot 39.7 percent (25-of-63). Oberlin (1-19, 0-11 NCAC) checked in at just 31.9 percent (15-of-47).
Oberlin will conclude the regular season with four of its final five games on the road. First up will be a trip east to Allegheny College on Wednesday night. Tip-time is set for 6 p.m.
