Yeomen Conclude First Tournament of the Spring

Delaware, Ohio – Over the weekend, the Oberlin College golf team took to the links for the first time this spring, finishing in eighth place with a total team score of 785 (388-397) at the Ohio Weselyan University Strimer Invitational.

First-year Andrew Decarlo was Oberlin's top finisher as he carded in a two-round total of 182 (90-92).

Football standout Ron Rupard finished one shot back of DeCarlo with 183 total swings. After posting a team-low round of 89 on Saturday he followed with a 94 today.

Other familiar names from the gridiron, Jake Panka and Matt Richard also competed for the Yeomen. Panka took 207 strokes (101-106) over the two days, while Richard registered 213 (108-105) swings.

Michael Murray rounded out the Yeomen line-up with a score of 236 (114-122).

The host Bishops won the event with a mark of 591 (290-301). Andy Wolf of Trine University was the individual medalist as he posted back-to-back rounds of 71 to finish with 142 swings.

The Yeomen return to action next weekend at the Wittenberg Invite.
