Decatur, Ga. – An offensive explosion by the Oberlin College women's lacrosse team guided them to an exciting 24-18 win over Agnes Scott College on Tuesday afternoon.

The 24 scores by Oberlin is its largest goal total in game in over a decade. It was first-year sensation Molly Bloom who guided the attack with a North Coast Athletic Conference record of 11 goals. The Sharon, Massachusetts, native also dished out four assists in the game.

Fellow rookie Grace Amber continued to impress as she and sophomore Alice Zicht each found the back of the cage five times as well.

“This was just a great game all the way around,” Head Coach Deb Ranieri said. “We played with a lot of composure and great flow on offense. We also made some key defensive plays when we had to.”

Oberlin (3-2) fell behind 3-0 before Amanda Travers put the Yeowomen on the board 3:36 into the game. A seesaw battle continued throughout the first half, but the Yeowomen grabbed a 14-12 lead at the break.

The Yewomen would extend their cushion to 20-14 with 21 minutes remaining and would fight off a mini 3-0 spurt by the Scotties who would get no closer than three the rest of the way.

Rookie netminder Madeleine O'Meara recorded 16 saves in the contest.

Oberlin concludes its spring beak trip on Thursday evening when it takes on Birmingham Southern at 7 p.m.
