Aheron Narrowly Misses the Cut in 400-Yard IM

Minneapolis, Minn. – Swimming in her first of three events at the NCAA Division III Championships, freshman Grace Aheron improved her seed, but narrowly missed the cut to advance to the finals of the 400-yard IM.

The Roanoke, Virginia, native, who rewrote the record books at Oberlin this season, finished 17th in the prelims of the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:32.40. Going into the race she was seeded 20th.

The top 16 finishers in each event earn a spot in the night finals. On this day it was Kelsey Roggensack of Williams who claimed the last spot with a mark of 4:31.89.

Aheron will get another chance to shine tomorrow morning in the 200-yard fly. She is the school record holder in the event with a timestamp of 2:04.10.

Tomorrow's prelims will get underway at 11 a.m. EST, with the finals set for 7 p.m. EST. Fans can follow all of the action live and get complete results via the NCAA Championships Website.
