Box Score

Oberlin, Ohio
– Sophomore Allison Anderson scored a career-high 38 points and the Oberlin College women's basketball team needed every last one to edge out Case Western Reserve University 79-78 in overtime on Monday night.

It wasn't just Anderson who willed the Yeowomen to victory as first-year Ashley Young turned in her best collegiate performance with 17 points and nine rebounds. The Columbus, Ohio, native went 6-of-8 from the floor, which included an impressive 5-of-6 performance from 3-point land. Senior Syrea Thomas also continued her impressive season by adding 14 points in the win.

The Yeowomen led by 20, 42-22, with 16:37 left in the game, but the Spartans managed to crawl all the way back to get within three at 63-60 with 3:28 remaining in regulation.

Oberlin led 66-61 with just over a minute to play, but Evy Iacano dialed in on one of her four second-half triple-hits. Oberlin would turn it over on its next possession and Erin Hollinger would tie the game with a lay-up. The Yeowomen had a chance to win it in regulation as Anderson drove to hoop and drew a lot of contact, but did not get the call from the officials.

In overtime the Yeowomen were clinging to a four-point lead, 77-73, with 33 seconds left, but two missed free throws followed by a quick two by Iacano gave the Spartans life with nine seconds to go.

However, the Yeowomen quickly got the ball into the hands of Anderson who went to the line to calmly knock down both charity tosses, pushing the lead back out to four and effectively preserving the win. The Spartans hoisted a last second three that went down as the clock expired.

Anderson also had a career performance at the free-throw line, cashing in 13-of-14 attempts on the night.

The Yeowomen shot 42.4 percent (25-of-59) in the contest and cashed in 11-of-26 (42.3%) triple-tries. The Spartans, who shot just 25 percent (9-of-36) in the first half, finished with a 38.7 percent (29-of-75) clip. After going 0-of-9 from long range in the first half, Case buried 9-of-17 threes in the second session.

The Yeowomen will look to build upon their two-game winning streak when they open up conference play on Wednesday night at Kenyon College. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
