Smithfield, R.I. – The Oberlin College men's basketball team gave Bryant University an early scare, but in the end the Bulldogs proved to have too much bite as they upended the Yeomen, 71-42, on Wednesday night.

Oberlin, which has not played since December 10, was led by sophomore Andrew Fox with 13 points and five rebounds. Classmate Charlie Crawford-Silva also added eight points in the loss.

"I was very happy with the way we competed today." Head Coach Isaiah Cavaco said. "We fought hard all game long and now we need to build off of this effort as we go forward with the second half of the season."

Alex Francis paced the Bulldogs attack with 23 points, 19 of which came in the first half.

The Yeomen had the Bulldogs on their heels as they built up an 18-11 cushion with 10 minutes to play in the opening half. However, Bryant was able to fight off the threat by closing out the frame on a 23-5 run to lead 34-23 at the break.

In the second session the Bulldogs broke things open and never looked backed.

After shooting 43 percent in the first half, Oberlin finished at 38 percent (15-of-40) on the night. Bryant, which snapped an eight-game losing streak with the win, checked in at 42 percent (24-of-57).

OC was hindered by 21 turnovers that translated into 35 points for the Bulldogs.

The Yeomen will go right back to work tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. against Salve Regina University.
