Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College football team looks to bounce back after a hard-fought loss Wittenberg University when Case Western Reserve University comes to town on Saturday afternoon. The Yeomen will be in search of their first win against the Spartans since 1982.

Last Time out for the Yeomen: Lost to No. 6 Wittenberg University 27-21 (10/2/10)

Series Information ...
Oberlin trails the all-time series against the Spartans 6-28 … The Spartans have left victorious 25 straight times against the Yeomen, with the last Oberlin win coming in 1982, when the Yeomen upended the Spartans 17-6 … In the 2009 matchup, Oberlin was had no answer for All-American QB Dan Wahlen as he led the Spartans to a 41-6 victory … The lone bright spot for the Yeomen was sophomore tailback Sean Curtis, who ran for 125 yards on 24 carries to go along with one touchdown … The defense was led by Eric Enrico and Dane Stritt, who tallied seven and five tackles, respectively.

Scouting the Spartans…
The Spartans come into Saturday's matchup having won 35 straight regular season games ... Currently  they are getting votes in both the AFCA DIII Coaches' Poll and the d3football.com Poll, but remain outside the Top 25 … The Spartans are coming off a 24-23 overtime win over Allegheny College last Saturday, a game in which a blocked extra point in overtime proved to be the difference … Case is led offensively by senior quarterback Joey Baum, who is completing 73.9 percent of his passes, having thrown eight touchdowns, as well as four interceptions … Baum's top target is senior wide receiver Zach Homyk, who has hauled in 40 passes this season for 465 yards and four touchdowns, and is coming off a 14 reception, 130 yard game against Allegheny … Defensively, Case is led by junior linebacker Jacob Adams … Adams leads the team with 43 tackles and two forced fumbles … In the trenches, Case will get a strong push from junior defensive tackle Dale English, who leads the team in sacks (4.5) and tackles for a loss (5.5).

Out of the Locker Room …
The Yeomen will hope to get off to a quick start, but it will be a tall task as Case is outscoring opponents 42-0 in the first quarter this season … Following halftime, it will also be important for the Yeomen to be ready to play as they have been outscored 42-24 during the third period … On the flip side, the Spartans have 23-3 scoring edge over their opponents in quarter number three … Last week against Wittenberg the Yeomen gained just seven yards in the third quarter … With Case's ability to make adjustments at halftime, Oberlin cannot afford to come out the same way they did against Wittenberg.

An Emerging Enright …
Junior tight end Danny Enright has been emerging as a top redzone threat for the Yeomen this season with three TDs in the past two weeks … His 6-foot-7 frame causes all kinds of matchup problems for any defense as he has great size and strength… With his route running getting better every week, the sure-handed tight end is becoming Oberlin's go-to-guy in the redzone and all across that field for that matter … He is leading the team with average of 15.1 yards per catch (minimum 10 catches) … Look for him to be a key contributor in the offense this week.

Put the Laundry Away …
Last week, the Yeomen were flagged 13 times for 118 yards … With no penalty bigger than the personal foul call against the Yeomen in the final minute of the game that took the Yeomen from the Wittenberg 35-yard line back to the 50 … At the time, with the Yeomen driving, Oberlin seemed poised to upset the 6th-ranked Tigers … If the Yeomen hope to upend Case on Saturday, they will need to cut down on the penalties … So far this season the Yeomen have been flagged 34 times for a total of 328 yards, which comes out to be 82 yards per game and is second highest total in the NCAC.

Move Those Chains …
The Yeomen offense, which ranks third best in the NCAC with an average of 373.2 yards per game, has been exceptionally proficient on third down as they lead the league with a 47.5 percent success rate with 28 conversions on 59 tries so far this season … The tandem of Joey Zebelian and Josh Mandel have also spearheaded the NCAC's second-best pass attack as with an average of 286.8 per game, and trail just Wittenberg (299.8) in that category … Out of the 15 offensive touchdowns, 13 have come through the air … Despite the prolific passing attack, Oberlin still leads the NCAC in time of possession at 34:24 per game.

Redzone Warriors …
The Yeomen have the top-ranked redzone offense and defense in the NCAC … Offensively the Yeomen have an 87.5 percent success rate, coming away with points on 14-of-16 trips with 11 of those resulting in TDs … Defensively the Oberlin defense has been stingy inside its own 20 as opponents have only been able to come away with points on 10-of-15 opportunities (66.7 %) … The next best percentage is 72.4 (21-of-29) by Ohio Wesleyan.
