Yeomen Cross Country Places 13th at Rumble

Oberlin, Ohio – Running on their home course at the third-annual Inter-Regional Rumble, the Oberlin College men's cross country team placed 13th overall in the 31-team field with 344 points.

Sophomore Eric Line led the Yeomen effort on the 8K trek by placing 16th with a mark of 25:34.6. Following Line was junior Ben Schild, who stopped the clock at 25:55.4 to finish 31st in 284-runner field.

A cluster of Yeomen rounded out the top five placers for Oberlin. It was junior Derek Lange who was the first of the bunch to come through the chute at 26:49.2, finishing in 97th place. Senior Albert Davila was just seven tenths of second back at 26:49.9 to place 99th, while sophomore Matt Bernstein posted a mark of 26:50.8 to end 101st.

“This obviously wasn't our best effort here today,” Head Coach Ray Appenheimer said. “We need to regroup and get ready for the conference meet in two weeks.

North Coast Athletic Conference member Allegheny College won the event with 66 points as they had four of their top five finishers place in the top 20.

Ben Sathre of the University of St. Thomas claimed the medalist honors in a 8K course-record time of 24:45.0.

The Yeomen, who entered the race ranked 18th country, return to action in two weeks at the NCAC Championships at Wabash College.
