Men's Cross Country Story Reported by Mike Mancini

Yeomen Claim All-Ohio Championship

Cedarville, Ohio –
The No. 19 Oberlin College men's cross country team proved that they are best Division III team in the state, winning the All-Ohio Championships on Friday afternoon with 66 points. The Yewomen claimed second place with 60 points.

Sophomore Eric Line guided the Yeomen's effort by finishing third amongst Division III runners with a time of 25:33.8. In the process, Oberlin also beat local rival – the 30th ranked Case Western Reserve Spartans by 20 points.

The junior tandem of Stephen Williams and Derek Lange checked in sixth and seventh, respectively. Williams completed the 8K course in 25:55.7, while Lange was close behind at 25:58.5.

Two more talented juniors rounded out the point placers for the Yeomen as Ben Schild was 16th with a mark of 26:14.9. David Cogswell touched the tape at 26:46.2 to place 34th.

“It was a great day for the men as everyone on this team gave a great effort and their hard work paid off,” Head Coach Ray Appenheimer said.
