Series Info…
Oberlin trails in the all-time series against the Spartans 5-27 … Saturday marks the 33rd meeting between the two schools, the first coming back in 1972 … Oberlin's last win against the Spartans was in the 1982 season – a 17-6 Yeomen triumph … In the 2008 matchup, the Oberlin offense had 332 total yards, with 138 coming on the ground, and 194 in the air … Oberlin's all-time leading rusher, R.V. Carroll rushed for 103 yards … Ryan Harvey had three catches for 59 yards while and Mike Loll snagged eight balls for 61 yards and a touchdown … The Yeomen actually ran more offensive plays than the Spartans at 69-62, but couldn't overcome a large first-half deficit.

Scouting the Spartans…
Oberlin's defense will be tested this week due to Case's high-powered offense … The Spartans, who enter the game ranked No. 10 in the latest d3football.com Top 25 Poll, are led by senior quarterback Dan Whalen … He was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Offensive Player of the Week for the 12th time in his career after an impressive season opener against Kenyon two weeks ago … Whalen went 30-for-37 for 409 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Spartans to a 33-21 victory … Fellow senior Tim Cowdrick caught three of those touchdowns in the win … Last Saturday the Spartans dismantled Rochester 45-14, a game in which Whalen became the school's all-time leading passer.

Haulin' Harvey ...
Despite the Oberlin offense struggling all day, Ryan Harvey showed flashes of dominance against the powerhouse Washington and Jefferson … He had 90 receiving yards on eight catches and 118 kickoff return yards, leading the Yeomen with 208 all-purpose yards.

Shining In the Secondary …
The Oberlin secondary had a busy first game against Washington and Jefferson ... Soloman Turner, Tyler Lewis, Eric Enrico, and Shawn Chrapczynski combined for 30 tackles in Saturday's game ... Enrico had an impressive first showing with six total tackles and one pass break up at the corner position en route to earning Heisman Club Player of the Game Honors.

Making a First Impression …
Freshman David Kalgren, who originally came to Oberlin as a defensive back, made his collegiate debut under center late in the fourth quarter against the Presidents … With the game no longer in doubt, Kalgren led the Yeomen on a 11-play 61-yard scoring drive in which he had 27 yards rushing and 27 yards passing ... On the drive he completed 3-of-4 passes and capped off his performance with a four-yard touchdown pass to sophomore #C.J. Holman#.

Playing Keep Away ...
Despite the loss two weeks ago to Washington & Jefferson, the Oberlin offense did an excellent job of keeping the W & J offense on the sidelines … The Yeomen possessed the ball for a full nine minutes more than the Presidents … With the potential firepower of Case's offense the Yeomen will have to rely even more on their offense's ability to keep the Spartan offense on the sidelines.

Night Lights …

For the second game in a row, the Yeomen will find themselves on the road in a primetime game under the lights … Normally this atmosphere is one to favor the home team, but it is also a great experience for Oberlin, who did not play single night game in 2008 … The 7 p.m. start could mean a larger crowd for the Spartans and a hostile environment for the Yeomen.
