Oberlin, Ohio – Sophomore Lori Sako recorded her first career hat trick to guide the Oberlin College women's soccer team to a convincing 6-2 road win over Muskingum on Tuesday afternoon.

First-year Hannah Combe, junior Lois Immerman and junior Veronica Fusco also scored a goal in the game for the Yeowomen.

“We started a little slow, but overall we played a good game and it felt really good to get this win, especially after a few hard-fought ties,” Head Coach Kristen Hayden said.

Sako got the scoring barrage going in the 15th minute, but the Muskies tied the match just seven minutes later. However, Oberlin would respond with five straight goals and never look back to run its record to 2-1-2 on the year.

The six goals scored by the Yeowomen are the most since September 14, 2004 when they recorded a 6-0 victory over Lake Erie College.

All three Oberlin keepers saw time in the game with each of them making two saves.

Oberlin fired off 27 shots compared to just 11 for the Muskies while both teams were even with four corner kicks apiece.

The Yeowomen return to action on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. when they make the short trek over John Carroll University.
