Granville, Ohio –
Denison University improved to 13-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference as it defeated the Oberlin College women's basketball team 82-47 on Saturday night.

Senior Alyssa Clark paced the OC attack with 17 points and nine rebounds. Junior Fran Holoman chipped in with six of her own in 21 minutes of work.

“They showed why they are one of the best teams in this league,” head coach Kerry Jenkins said. “Playing on back-to-back nights is always tough, but that is no excuse as we just need to go back to work and prepare for Allegheny on Tuesday.”

The Yeowomen hung tight in the early going, but the Big Red started to heat up as they ripped off a 14-0 run to claim a 31-10 lead with 6:01 left to play in the half. Denison continued its offensive effectiveness as it built a 42-23 cushion at the break.

The second half was more of the same as the Big Red offense stayed scorching hot and never let the Yeowomen back into the game.

Oberlin (5-16, 3-9 NCAC) shot just 30-percent (18-of-60) on the night, while Denison checked in at 38-percent (30-of-79). The Yeowomen were also out-rebounded 61-35 – including a 29-11 margin on the offensive end, which led to 23 second-chance points for the Big Red.

The victors had three players reach double figures with Caitlin Graessle leading the way with 16 points.

Oberlin will look to avenge a heartbreaking, 34-33, loss to Allegheny earlier in the year when the Gators come to town on Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. tip.
