Anderson, Ind. – Playing in their final game of 2009, the Oberlin College men's basketball team had no answer for the Anderson University Ravens on Wednesday night, falling on the road by a final score of 84-61.

First-year Andrew Fox directed the Oberlin offense with 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting, while junior Ryan Magiera added 12 points in the loss.

Despite the large discrepancy on the scoreboard, the Yeomen did outshoot the Ravens by knocking down 58.5-percent (24-of-41) of their shots compared to 52.8-percent (28-of-53) for the victors. However, Oberlin was hindered by 21 turnovers that led to 32 points by Anderson. The Ravens also added 19 second chance points in the contest.

With the win Anderson improved to 10-1 overall and has now won seven straight games. Oberlin, which hasn't played since beating Alma on December 12, is now 4-6 on the year.

“Early on we surely looked like a team that hadn't played in over two weeks,” Head Coach Isaiah Cavaco said. “However, I thought we played much better in the second half and now we just need to build on that for our game on Saturday.”

The Yeomen actually outscored the Ravens 40-37 in the second half, but dug themselves a deep hole early on as they trailed 47-21 at the break due in large part to Ty Riddle as he was 6-of-6 from 3-point land during the first 20 minutes of play.

Oberlin will continue its five-game road trip on Saturday afternoon when it makes the short trek to downtown Cleveland to battle the Case Western Reserve Spartans. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
