Oberlin Drops Home Finale to Kenyon

Oberlin, Ohio –
The Kenyon College Ladies used a big second half to upend the Oberlin College Field Hockey Team 11-1 in the home finale for the Yeowomen on Wednesday afternoon.

The Yeowomen played well early on and pressured the Ladies' defense, but were unable to cash in on any scoring opportunities in the first half.

The Ladies got on the board at the 14:35 mark on a Maggie Gilligan's first of four goals on the day. Kenyon would net two more goals to lead 3-0 at the break.

Unfortunately, the second half was controlled by the Ladies as they went on to add eight scores over the final 35 minutes of play.

Rookie Maura Liebendorfer scored her first collegiate goal to put Oberlin on the board in the second half.

Emily Bigelow got the start in goal and made nine saves over 41:36 of action. Kiran Puri controlled the cage over the final 28:24 of play and turned away eight shots.

The Ladies fired off 41 shots with 29 coming on goal, while the Yeowomen triggered 18 attempts with 14 on target. Kenyon also benefited from an 18-10 edge on penalty corners.

Oberlin concludes its season on Saturday afternoon when it travels to Wittenberg for a 2 p.m. tilt.
