January 24 – The Oberlin College men's basketball team put up a good fight against first-place Hiram, but in the end the Terriers proved to be too much as they beat the Yeomen 74-59 on Saturday afternoon.

Jordan Beard scored a game-high 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting – including an impressive 4-of-5 performance from beyond the arc. Fellow senior
Omari Hall connected on 4-of-5 shots to finish with 11 points of his own.
“We played hard, but fell behind early and got a little out of rhythm,” head coach
Isaiah Cavaco said. “They are a very good and athletic team that was able to take advantage of their size and quickness.”
The first 20 minutes belonged to the Terriers as they quickly jumped out to a 15-2 lead en route to claiming a 42-26 margin at the break.
In the second half, however, Oberlin (4-13, 1-7 NCAC) out-scored Hiram (12-5, 7-1 NCAC) 33-32 and got as close as 13 in the closing moments.
The Terriers had three players in double figures with post-man Ian Pfouts leading the way with 16 points.
The main difference in the game was 19 Oberlin turnovers that turned into 23 Hiram points. The victors also dominated the interior with 40 points in the paint compared to just 20 for the Yeomen.
Oberlin looks to bounce back on Wednesday evening when it travels to Delaware, Ohio, for a 7 p.m. showdown with the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops.
