January 19 – Thomas More came out hot and never cooled off as it cruised to a 77-50 win over the Oberlin College men's basketball team on Monday night.

For the Yeomen, Senior Jordan Beard finished with a game-high 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting and fellow upperclassman Mike Loll ripped down a game-high nine boards to go along with eight points.

“We gave up way too many easy buckets inside and didn't really challenge them defensively all night,” head coach Isaiah Cavaco said. “We need to play better defense if we want to give ourselves a chance to win.”

The Saints (10-6), who had three players in double figures, scored 38 points in the paint compared just 22 for the Yeomen. They also got a large contribution from their bench bunch, which out-scored Oberlin 46-13. Additionally, Thomas More won the rebounding battle by a 38-28 margin.

After jumping out to an early 9-5 lead five, Oberlin fell victim to some sharp shooting by the Saints and trailed 40-23 at the break. Thomas More connected on 54.8-percent (17-of-31) of its shot in the session.

In the second half, Oberlin never really threatened – getting no closer than 19 over the final ten minutes of play.

Thomas More finished the night at 50.9-percent (28-of-55) overall, while the Yeomen checked in at 39.2-percent (20-of-51).

Oberlin returns to NCAC play on Wednesday night when they play host to Kenyon College. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. from Philips Gym.
