Cold shooting and poor rebounding hindered the Oberlin College women's basketball team as they fell to NCAC foe Wittenberg 81-41 on Sunday afternoon in Springfield, Ohio.

Alyssa Clark continued her impressive week with 17 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Katie Thompson recorded her second double-digit game of the year with a season-high 12 points.

“You can't get out-rebounded like the way we did today and expect to win,” head coach Kerry Jenkins said. “Wittenberg, like everyone in our conference is very good, and we need to keep working in order to get better.”

Wittenberg (9-4, 4-1 NCAC) ripped down 62 rebounds compared to just 34 for Oberlin (3-9, 1-3 NCAC) – including a 25-11 advantage on the offensive end. OC also shot just 23.2-percent (13-of-56), while the Tigers checked in with a 42.6-percent (29-of-68) success rate.

Clark deposited her first three shots to give Oberlin an early 9-8 edge, but Wittenberg turned up the offensive intensity to build a 37-21 lead at the break. The Tigers were aggressive throughout the frame – making 20 trips to the free throw line and had 34-14 edge on the glass.

Witt scored 13 of the first 17 points of the second half to grab a 50-25 lead and never looked back.

Oberlin will conclude its six-game road trip on Wednesday afternoon at Allegheny. Tip-time is set for 6 p.m. as the Yeomen and Gators will follow at 8 p.m.
