Box Score
Oct. 4 - The Women's Soccer team played tough for 90 minutes, but in the end the regionally ranked Quakers of Earlham College were just too good on this day.
Earlham hit the crossbar on their first shot of the game and seemed to keep the possession of the ball in the Oberlin zone or near midfield over several long stretches early in the game.
Lois Immerman led several counter attacks, but the Yeowomen were unable to break through the stingy Quaker defense.
Earlham did get on the board towards the end of the first half on a play that drew goalie
Sarah Grabinski out of the box and Earlham was able to get the ball around Grabinski and into the net.
With the score 1-0 at the half, Oberlin tried making several adjustments but were unable to get through the Earlham back line. In the second half Earlham scored once more and finished with a 2-0 victory. The Yeowomen were outshot 17-4 and only Immerman and
Veronica Fusco were able to register a shot (2 each).
Head Coach Kristen Hayden acknowledge that this Earlham team was very good and hoped that her squad would be able to learn from some of the things that happened over the course of the game. Hayden said, "The good thing about this time of year is that we get to go back out there in a couple of days, so right now we are thinking about Denison on Wednesday."
The Yeowomen will play next in Granville, Ohio on Wednesday, October 8, at 7:00 pm.
