Oberlin, Ohio – A remarkable five Obies scored their first career goals as the Oberlin College women's soccer team surged to a dominating 8-0 victory over Carlow on Tuesday evening.
Celebrating with their annual Pride Game, the Crimson and Gold's eight goals were scored by eight different players to highlight the evening. "It is outstanding to have so many different players contribute to the offensive power in tonight's game. This game highlights the depth of our team, and we look forward to carrying this momentum throughout the season," Head Coach

Scoring their first career goals for Oberlin were
Kylie Tinnirella,
Audrey Benson,
Samantha Dormer,
Sawyer Ramberg, and
Maya Tackett.
Kicking things off to a hot start,
Averi Williams drilled a shot to the right after Dormer gained control of a Carlow goal kick just over five minutes into the contest. Oberlin extended their lead to two after
Molly Button's shot was deflected off the Celtics' keeper, and Tinnirella controlled the rebound into the back of the net to score her first career goal. At 17', the Crimson and Gold found themselves in the attack zone as Tackett sent the ball from the right side of the field past the goalkeeper, allowing Benson to finish the ball.
Coming out of the halftime break with the 3-0 edge,
Emma Boyles sent a long pass from Oberlin's defensive end. Chasing down the ball, Dormer sent the ball into the unguarded goal to produce her first career goal. Less than four minutes later, Ramberg received a pass from Tinnirella and drilled the ball between the narrow gap of the goalkeeper and the goal to extend Oberlin's lead to five.
Following a Carlow foul,
Lexi Reynolds took the free kick just to the left of the penalty box. Sending the ball to the net, the junior's kick soared into the top right corner of the goal. Two minutes later, Tackett crossed the ball from the right edge of the penalty box as Button, just at the edge of the goal box, tacked on a seventh goal for Oberlin. With under five minutes remaining, Tackett notched the Crimson and Gold's eighth goal, launching the ball just to the right of the goalkeeper, propelling Oberlin to their shutout victory.
With the 8-0 shutout, Oberlin recorded their highest number of goals scored in a single game since 2017 when they secured an 8-0 victory over Geneva on September 13. Making her first career start,
Maddie Cooper posted a trio of saves while
Quinn Hardy checked in for the second half. Carlow's Alannah Hall made nine saves while Oberlin held a 30-6 (17-3) shot advantage.
The Crimson and Gold return to action on Thursday, September 10, when they travel to Franciscan. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
