Westlake, Ohio – Oberlin College women's cross country sophomore Lieke Everts was recognized by the North Coast Athletic Conference on Tuesday morning, earning her first career NCAC Athlete of the Week honor following a standout performance over the weekend.

"Lieke ran such a complete race at Rochester and I am thrilled for her." Said Head Cross Country Coach Izzy Alexander. "She ran a determined and committed middle section, which was one of our goals going into the meet, and lead our team to a very strong performance."

Everts delivered a staggering 1:15 personal best in the 6K at the Rochester Yellowjacket XC Invitational, crossing the finish line in 23:24.3 to place 25th out of 208 competitors. The sophomore's performance helped the Yeowomen secure seventh place out of 16 teams while competing against No. 18 SUNY Geneseo.

The San Diego, California, native's 23:24.3 finish was a new 6K personal best and helped lead Oberlin's scoring effort at Genesee Valley Park.

The Crimson and Gold return to the course Saturday, October 2, when they compete at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational in Powell.
