Oberlin, Ohio – Oberlin College Athletics has announced the hiring of Hailey Owens as Assistant Director of Athletics Communications.

"I'm excited to join Oberlin College because of the strong community atmosphere and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact." Owens continued, "I'd like to thank Natalie and Amanda for this opportunity, and I'm excited to join the Athletics Communications team and work alongside such a talented staff. I look forward to telling the stories of our scholar-athletes, celebrating their successes, and helping showcase everything that makes Oberlin Athletics special."

A Class of 2025 College Sports Communicators 30 Under 30 selection, Owens has had stops at Baldwin Wallace University, Otterbein University, and most recently, Denison University, a fellow North Coast Athletic Conference institution.

Owens began her career as a Graduate Assistant at Baldwin Wallace in 2021, where she served as the primary contact for ten sports and led the athletics student creative team. In 2023, she took her first full-time position as the Athletic Communications and Multimedia Specialist at Otterbein, before being promoted to Associate Director of Athletics Communications & Multimedia in 2024. There, she managed 22 sports, launched the Cardinal's TikTok account, and led the athletics rebrand, which included visual identity and messaging.

Joining Denison at the beginning of 2025, Owens spent four seasons as the multimedia and brand strategy leader for the Big Red. During her time, she revitalized their social media presence and generated more than 3.7 million views and 100,000 interactions across a 60-day period. Her experience stretches beyond the conference level, having provided coverage at five NCAA national championships.

"I've had the privilege and joy of watching Hailey grow into a revered young professional over the last several years, and I'm excited to see her bring a renewed energy and passion to the Crimson and Gold." Director of Athletics Communications, Amanda Phillips, said.

A native of Lakewood, Ohio, Owens earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management from Baldwin Wallace in 2021 and was a two-time letterwinner for the Yellow Jackets' softball team. In 2023, she graduated with her Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Sport Management from Baldwin Wallace.

Owens will begin her role on August 1, as Oberlin prepares to welcome back their scholar-athletes for the 2026-27 year.
