Crimson and Gold Garner Fifth Sweep of the Season

Delaware, Ohio – Claiming their fifth sweep of the season and second-straight conference sweep, the Oberlin College women's tennis team cruised past Ohio Wesleyan 7-0. The Crimson and Gold improve to 12-5 overall and 4-3 in North Coast action, securing a winning conference record of 0.571 and their highest conference record since the 2022 season.

Finishing just minutes apart, the doubles team of Hannah Soong and Freya Rahm at No. 1 led Oberlin, falling on the wrong end of the 6-2 scoreline. Over on court three, Stella Kollmansberger and Olivia Wollner powered to a 6-2 victory to even the score at 1-1. Rachel Allen and Scarlett Kingston rounded things out just a minute later, recording a 6-2 victory and clinching the doubles point for Oberlin.

Carrying the momentum from her doubles victory, Allen swept her opponent with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3. Rahm followed nearly 14 minutes later on court four, posting a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Ohio Wesleyan's Emma Pzedpelski. Maintaining the 3-0 edge, the Crimson and Gold just needed one more point to secure the victory. Kingston, taking her match 6-1, 6-1, grabbed the clinch for Oberlin at No. 2.

Behind 5-2 on court one, Kollmansberger persevered to take the first set 7-5 before soaring to a 6-2 win, extending the Yeowomen's lead to five. Olivia Guzman recorded her 10th straight singles victory with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5. Down in a 3-0 hole, Wollner won the next four points en route to a 7-5 first-set victory. In the second set, the sophomore dished out a 6-1 victory to secure the sweep for Oberlin.

"We trusted our training, trusted each other, and played with freedom and purpose," Head Coach Magda Stepnik adds.

The Crimson and Gold will return home for their final home match of the regular season tomorrow, Sunday, April 26, when they face non-conference Otterbein. First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m.
