Doubles went swiftly for the Crimson and Gold with the No. 1 doubles team, Shawn Lisann and Cameron Weiss, finishing 6-1. Doubles No. 2, Zain Makada and Enrique Margain, followed soon after with a 6-2 victory. Sebastien Naginski and Dash Smith were also able to take the win today, starting with a break and exchanging holds against their opponents until the duo broke again and Smith held at 5-4, sealing the match for doubles No. 3.Â
Up 1-0, the Yeomen were able to play with an advantage from the very start of singles. Again, Weiss closed his match first, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. He was followed shortly after by Naginski on court six. The senior won 6-1, 6-3. Notably, this is the 40th singles victory of Naginski's career.Â
With a 3-0 lead, the Yeomen were just one match away from victory. Today, it was Lisann who clinched for the Crimson and Gold. The senior, like Naginski, also achieved some notable accomplishments today, securing his 50th doubles win and 40th singles win, making for his 89th and 90th overall victories as an Oberlin tennis player.Â
Margain ended his match on court four, ensuring a two-set shut-out 6-0, 6-4. Smith at No. 1 singles lagged behind in the second set, 6-4, but regained his fire, winning the second set 6-0 and tiebreaker 10-4. Makada also found tougher resistance at No. 3 singles, facing a seven-point tiebreak for his first set. The Yeomen broke through, however, winning his tiebreaker 7-3 and the second set 6-3.Â
