Westlake, Ohio – After leading the Oberlin College softball team to a historic weekend,
Hailey Alspach has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning.
The California native grabs her second career weekly honor, both coming this season. Oberlin's top hurler delivered a resilient and impactful week in the circle and at the plate, leading the Yeowomen to a historic series sweep over Ohio Wesleyan.
Alspach picked up two key wins in the circle, including a dominant 4.0-inning outing with just one hit allowed and seven strikeouts in an 11-3 run-rule victory over Ohio Wesleyan.
She followed with a complete-game effort in the series finale, allowing just one earned run over 7.0 innings with five strikeouts to secure a 6-5 win. Across her appearances, she consistently generated outs with a mix of strikeouts and ground balls.
At the plate, Alspach contributed in multiple ways, including a multi-hit performance with two runs scored, a walk, and two stolen bases in the series-clinching win.
Her all-around performance helped Oberlin tie the program's single-season win record (14) and secure its first-ever series sweep over Ohio Wesleyan.
The Yeowomen look to keep their winnings ways rolling and break the single season win record when they host Olivet for a doubleheader later this week. First pitch against the Comet is set for 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15.
