Westlake, Ohio – Leading the Oberlin College baseball team their first shoutout victory of the season,
Matthew Ruttkay was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning.
The sophomore delivered a dominant performance on the mound to lead the Yeomen to a 5-0 victory over Wooster earlier this week. This marks Ruttkay's first career NCAC weekly honor.
Ruttkay tossed an incredible 7.2 shutout innings, allowing just five hits while striking out six and issuing only one walk. He faced 28 batters and threw 117 pitches in a commanding outing.
The win marked Ruttkay's first career shutout and improved his record to 3-1 on the season, anchoring a strong performance for the Crimson and Gold.
Oberlin returns to the diamond today, Tuesday, April 14 for a non-conference matchup against Muskingum. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
