Yeomen Battle Baldwin Wallace on Road

Berea, Ohio – Facing their first loss of the season, the Oberlin College men's lacrosse team battled Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday evening. Dropping the contest 18-8, the Yeomen move to 3-1 on the season.

Solomon Brennan led the offensive charge, tallying a pair of goals and an assist, while Cooper Zancosky tallied two goals. Jacob Starcke, Nicholas Cuda, and Ryan Loughlin each finished with two points off a goal and an assist, with Andrew Rosa rounding out the scoring Yeomen with a goal.

From the circle, Evan Sardina went 14-23 in the face-off, notching six ground balls. Cooper Rand and Nolan Grieshaber picked up five ground balls apiece, with a pair of caused turnovers from Rand and a lone caused turnover from Grieshaber. In the net for all 60 minutes of regulation, Grieshaber recorded three saves.

Oberlin got on the board first off a Baldwin Wallace turnover when Brennan connected with Cuda on the Yeomen's first possession. The Yellow Jackets responded with five straight goals to surge ahead early in the game. Winning the following face-off, Loughlin sent the ball to Brennan, drilling it past BW's goalkeeper. Baldwin Wallace added another goal before Brennan produced his second goal on the man-up opportunity with just five seconds remaining in the first period, with Starcke adding the assist.

A quiet second period, Oberlin held Baldwin Wallace to just two shots on goal, converting one into a goal. Starting strong to launch the third period, Zancosky registered a goal off a rebounded save. The Yellow Jackets notched a trio of goals, but the Crimson and Goal responded with a pair of late goals from Zancosky and Rosa.

Starcke delivered the opening goal in the fourth session, aiming to chip away at Oberlin's deficit. Baldwin Wallace dished out eight unanswered goals, extending their lead to a double-digit advantage. With the clock running down, Loughlin launched the ball past BW's goalkeeper but ran out of time to close the gap for the Yeomen.

Oberlin returns to action on Saturday, March 7, when they take on Elmhurst. Face-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
