Starcke Moves Up in Record Books in Big Win Over Albion

Albion, Michigan – Scoring six goals in a 13-1 win over Albion, Oberlin College men's lacrosse senior Jacob Starcke moves to second all-time in career goals. The senior surpasses Dave Herman '90 (152) with 162 goals, and now sits three goals behind the all-time leader, Ryan Kelly '96 with 165.

Pacing the Yeomen offense, Starcke's six goals led the team's scoring. Solomon Brennan added another five points from two goals and three assists, with Cooper Zancosky splitting his point total with two goals and two assists. Nicholas Cuda and Asher Friedman also scored in the night's victory, with Levi Shoemaker notching his first goal in Crimson and Gold.

Nolan Grieshaber clocked a complete 60 minutes in cage, making 11 saves and collecting a team-high nine ground balls. Colin Taylor and Max Revis supported the back line with two caused turnovers each, and combined for five ground balls.

Brennan found Zancosky at the 13:10 mark to put the Yeomen on the board. Scoring twice more to close out the first quarter, Oberlin's offense paced their way to an early lead. Starcke added another two goals in the second frame, completing a slow first half.

Up 5-0 and reset with a halftime break, the Crimson and Gold came out in the third quarter swinging. The Yeomen more than doubled their point total and continued to dominate the Brits on defense. Oberlin connected on 6-9 shots on goal and successfully cleared all seven attempts. With a dominate 11-0 lead, Thinley Edwards won the first face-off of the four quarter giving way to a quick goal for Cuda from Zancosky.

The Brits finally got on the board after 46:30 minutes of action, spoiling Oberlin's shutout chances. With more than ten minutes remaining, the Yeomen used up their clock while maintaining their pressure to secure the road win.

Now 5-2 overall, the Crimson and Gold are set to open North Coast action this weekend, Saturday, March 21 when they head west to face DePauw. Oberlin holds a four-game win streak over the Tigers and will look to extend it beginning at 1 p.m.
