Adrian, Michigan – The Oberlin College men's lacrosse team knocked off the Adrian Bulldogs, 14-6 on Saturday evening.
Jacob Starcke and
Nicholas Cuda scored five points apiece as the Yeomen move to 4-2 on the season.
Starcke led the team with four goals and one assist, while Cuda added two goals and assisted on three scores.
Andrew Rosa and
Ryan Loughlin also finished the day with multiple goals, led by Rosa with three and Loughlin with two.
The face-off committee of
Evan Sardina and
Thinley Edwards, with a special feature from
Will Kohl, finished the day 19-24 at the line. The trio combined for 13 ground balls, with Sardina scooping seven.
Colin Taylor and
Cooper Rand anchored the defense, combining for five caused turnovers and six ground balls. Oberlin's
Nolan Grieshaber accounted for 11 saves in cage while leading the Yeomen to 24-25 successful clears.
The Crimson and Gold struck first, scoring just 24 seconds into the game. After
Alexander L'Hommedieu found Starcke for the opening score, Cuda and Starck accounted for the next three goals until Rand highlighted the run with a long-pole goal; his second of the season and fifth of his career. Loughlin and Rosa extended Oberlin's lead to seven before Adrian finally got on the board.
Heading into the second frame,
Chris Totonis found Starcke off the face-off to put Oberlin up by eight.
Solomon Brennan responded after the Bulldogs scored to maintain the Yeomen's extensive lead. Oberlin slowed down in the second half, scoring just three goals to Adrian's three. Oberlin took 65 shots in the game, putting 35 on goal compared to Adrian's 17-30.
Oberlin returns to the turf when they head back to Michigan to take on Albion on Wednesday, March 18. Face off is set for 4 p.m.
