Yeomen Face Blue Streaks in North Coast Battle

University Heights, Ohio - Traveling northeast for a midweek matchup, the Oberlin College men's basketball team faced John Carroll in their first contest as conference opponents. Dropping the match 86-69, the Yeomen shift to 8-7 (1-5).

Milun Micanovic paced the Oberlin offense, producing his fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Shooting 3-4 from behind the arc, Zach Smith added 11 points while Noah Kim recorded 10 points after going  6-7 from the free throw line.

Micanovic opened the scoring for Oberlin with a layup and triple, as a jumper from JJ Gray propelled Oberlin ahead of John Carroll in the early minutes. Trailing by six, Liam Gray found Micanovic as the center electrified the court with a dunk at 10:46.

Holding a slight 35-33 advantage, the Blue Streaks delivered a 13-0 run to pull ahead of Oberlin. Although the Crimson and Gold closed out the half with the final five points, John Carroll maintained the edge leading into the halftime break.

Opening the second half with a full lineup change, Smith launched action with a long-range shot for Oberlin. John Carroll responded with their own triple as both teams kept each other off the board for the following three minutes.

Ahead 51-43, the Blue Streaks dished out a second-half surge with 14 unanswered points to extend their lead. Micanovic scored the next five points with a pair of layups and a free throw to close the gap, but John Carroll was able to maintain their distance to secure the conference victory.

The Yeomen will resume action on Saturday, January 17 when they host Wittenberg. The North Coast tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
