Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Oberlin Blanked by Kalamazoo

Oberlin, Ohio - Returning to Shults Field for their second home match of the season, the Oberlin College women's soccer team fell to Kalamazoo 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon, shifting the Crimson and Gold to 0-2-1 on the season.

The goalkeeping duo of Alison Grant and Roam Redington split halves in the net, with Grant taking the start. Grant produced three saves in the opening half, while Redington registered a pair of saves in the second half.

Kalamazoo controlled the possession through much of the opening half, getting on the board at 19:51. Down by one, Oberlin responded with a pair of shots from Emma Boyles and Sophie Wilson. Both Boyles and Wilson drilled their shots from outside the penalty box but were stopped by the Hornets' goalkeeper, and the Crimson and Gold concluded the first half down 1-0.

Gaining more control of the ball in the second half, Oberlin's best scoring opportunity followed a Crimson and Gold corner with a trio of shots from Skylar Leung, Meena Lee, and Zoey Edmiaston. Leung struck a bicycle kick that was stopped by the Kalamazoo goalie before Lee's shot was directed into the post. Edmiaston delivered a final shot but was unable to convert the attempt into a goal. The Hornets added a late goal in the last four minutes of play until the time expired and Kalamazoo secured the 2-0 win.

Oberlin resumes action on Saturday, September 6, when they travel to Pennsylvania for a weekend matchup against Geneva. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
