Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Oberlin Shut Down by Otterbein

Westerville, Ohio - The Oberlin College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Otterbein on Tuesday evening. With the loss, the Crimson and Gold shift to 2-3-2 on the season.

Senior Alison Grant spent all 90 minutes between the pipes, tying her career-high by registering 12 saves during the match.

Outshooting the Yeowomen 24-0, the Cardinals emerged with an aggressive offense. Procuring a corner early on in the game, Otterbein sent a pair of shots towards the bottom of the cage as Grant swiftly made both stops. At 35:37, the Cardinals' Natalie Smith connected with Rae Ehrbar to put Otterbein on the board. The Oberlin defense continued to work diligently to keep the Cardinals out of the net, going into halftime down 1-0.

Eight minutes into the second period, the Otterbein attack continued to put pressure on the Crimson and Gold. Grant and the Oberlin defense continued to persevere to keep the Cardinals out of the net, hoping to claim possession onto their offensive end. With six minutes remaining in the match, Otterbein was granted a penalty kick. Ehrbar sent the shot past Grant to secure the insurance goal for the Cardinals.

The Crimson and Gold return to Shults on Saturday, October 20 when they host Hiram for their senior day. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
