Virginia Beach, Virginia – Clinching a 6-1 victory over Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday evening, the Oberlin College women's tennis team improves to 4-5 on the season.

The Yeowomen made quick work of the Marlins in doubles play, grabbing the No. 2 slot 6-3 by
Freya Rahm and
Rachel Allen. On the third court,
Eva Lopez and
Scarlett Kingston clinched the doubles point for Oberlin with a 6-4 victory. Battling through a tiebreaker,
Anna Pastore and
Hannah Soong came away with a 7(7)-6(4).

Up 1-0 Kingston added to the point total with a 6-3, 6-2 win on court No. 4, just as. Pastore took care of business (6-3, 6-3) on the top court. The Marlins responded at No. 6 singles, with Sarah Reich taking the match 6-3, 6-2 over
Olivia Wollner.

Oberlin cruised through the rest of the match, coming out on the bright side of a pair of set tiebreakers. Rahm defeated Meena Lennon 6-4, 7(7)-6(4) to take the third court, as Allen earned a gritty 7(9)-6(7), 7-5 victory at No. 2. Rounding out the day for Oberlin was Lopez (6-2, 3-6, 7-5), who fought in a third set for the win.

With a pair of wins and momentum at their backs, the Crimson and Gold return to the courts on Saturday, March 29 when they take on the No. 13 team in the country; Washington and Lee. This will be their first meeting in program history, with the first serve set to go up at 12:00 p.m.
