Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Oberlin Open Conference Season Against Nationally Ranked Denison

Granville, Ohio – Opening the North Coast Athletic Conference season on the road against the defending champions, the Oberlin College men's lacrosse team fell 18-4 against #18 Denison. The defeat moves the Yeomen to 6-2 on the season and 0-1 in NCAC action.

Four different faces scored the Yeomen's four goals; Solomon Brennan, Jack Duffy, Cooper Zancosky, and Christian Tacogue. The lone assist came off from the stick of Nicholas Cuda.

On defense, Colin Taylor and Evan Sardina led the team with six ground balls each, while Taylor added another four caused turnovers. Additionally, Cooper Rand forced a pair of turnovers on the Big Red. In goal, Jake Pillsbury made 11 saves.

Denison opened the game with four goals over the first 13 minutes, before Rand's caused turnover led to Cuda meeting Tacogue to put Oberlin on the board. The Big Red responded with a goal right after, capping the first quarter at 5-1.

Another caused turnover led to an Oberlin goal after Taylor forced the miscue on Denison's attacking end. Zacosky found the back of the net as the Yeomen stayed within four of the home team. Five minutes later, Taylor caused another turnover on the Big Red attack, leading to another Yeomen score. Coming out of a timeout, the Big Red tacked on three-straight goals to take a 9-3 lead into halftime.

With momentum on their back, Denison outscored Oberlin 9-1 in the second half. The bright spot of the Crimson and Gold offense came at the 11:02 mark in the fourth quarter behind Duffy's charge to cage on the back of a Denison turnover.

The Yeomen take nearly a week off before returning to action, when they host Wooster at home on Saturday, March 29. The game is set for 1 p.m.
