Alliance, Ohio – The Oberlin College women's tennis team notched their first sweep of the season in just three matches, taking down the University of Mount Union, 7–0.
The Raiders lone win of the day come at #1 doubles, as Amelia Francisco and Emily Peel took down second-year
Rachel Allen and first-year
Hannah Soong in a closely-contested set, 7–5. The other two doubles matches were never in doubt – fourth-year
Anna Pastore and first-year
Olivia Wollner routed Mount Union's #2 duo, Emily Borchert and Hannah Neely, 6–0, while
Scarlett Kingston and
Eva Lopez demolished Chloe Bancroft and Marianna Farmakidis, 6–0 in the #3 match.
After securing the doubles point, the Yeowomen breezed through singles action with relative ease.
Pastore secured her second singles win of the season in the #1 slot with a 6–2, 6–4 win over Francisco.
Allen and Rahm each had the tightest singles matches of the day. In the #2 match, Allen pulled through against Peel, 7–5, 6–3, while Rahm gutted out a tight 6–4, 7–6 (1) victory over the Raiders' #3 Borchert.
The bottom three matches all saw Oberlin win comfortably. Kingston won quickly over Neely, 6–2, 6–0, in the #4 match, while Oberlin's #5 Wollner cruised 6–1, 6–4 over Farmakidis and Soong dispatched Sophia Pruce, the Raiders' #6, 6–1, 6–3.
The Yeowomen will be back on court on Wednesday, March 5, when they travel to take on Otterbein at 4 p.m.
