Oberlin, Ohio – Oberlin College Associate Vice President for Athletics Advancement and Delta Lodge Director of Athletics & Physical Education,
Natalie Winkelfoos, has announced the elevation of
Amanda Phillips to the role of Director of Athletics Communications and Game Day Operations.
"Amanda has been a force in our athletics community since her arrival in 2021. She is a strong collaborator, creator, and is proving herself to be the ultimate teammate." Winkelfoos continues, "Amanda leads with intention, challenges the status quo, and celebrates every victory, big and small. She has already made a tremendous impact, and it's exciting to imagine all she - and we - will accomplish in the years ahead."
In her four years with the Crimson and Gold, Phillips has been at the forefront of enhancing the visibility and brand of Oberlin Athletics. She has led the charge in advanced digital media strategy, and oversees the department's website, photography, and social media platforms, in addition to the recruitment and training of student-employees.
"It's such a privilege to work at Oberlin, and it's a gift to be surrounded by unbelievably supportive and compassionate individuals." Phillips adds, "From the students to the coaches and staff, I am ever grateful to be a part of the Crimson and Gold, and I'm thrilled to continue elevating Oberlin Athletics."
Beyond Oberlin, Phillips is involved in several committees within the national governing body, College Sports Communicators (CSC). Most notably, Phillips is the co-founder of CSC Pride, a committee focused on uplifting and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community within college athletics and providing educational opportunities to athletics departments. Phillips is also an administrator on the CSC Creative & Digital Design Contest Committee, and a member of CSC-U.
In November 2023,
Phillips was named to the College Sports Communicators 30 Under 30 List, a recognition that honors up-and-coming strategic, creative, and digital athletics communications professionals throughout the CSC membership.
Phillips will begin her role as director immediately, and a national search for her successor is underway.
