Men’s Lacrosse Cruises Past the Bearcats

Oberlin, Ohio – In a dominant 15-3 win on Wednesday evening, the Oberlin College men's lacrosse team maintained their perfect record at home over Saint Vincent. The Yeomen move to 4-1 overall.

Solomon Brennan and Jacob Starcke lit up scoreboard with three goals apiece, while Christian Tacogue added a pair of his own. Seven other Yeomen tallied a goal in the match, including Nicholas Cuda and Cooper Zancosky who combined for three assists. Additionally, six Yeomen secured assists in the high-scoring affair.

Oberlin went 13-21 at the faceoff, led by Evan Sardina who won 10-15 and scooped nine ground balls. Besides the FOGO, Colin Taylor grabbed five, while Alexander L'Hommedieu and Tacogue pulled in four each.

Jake Pillsbury started the game in cage, collecting ten saves before giving time to Joe Barocas who made a save in the final minutes.

The Crimson and Gold got on the board right from the faceoff, after Brennan streaked through the defense just 36 seconds in. Starcke and Brennan added a pair more in the last two minutes of the quarter, assisted by Joe Chai and Asher Friedman.

The goals continued to fall for Oberlin in the second quarter, highlighted by an early score from Jackson Lu after driving the ball through the center of the box.

Up 5-0 at the start of the third, Cuda, Zancosky, and Starcke went 1-2-3 over three minutes to extend the Yeomen's lead. Saint Vincent finally got on the board with a goal from Jonathan Nagy at the 7:15 mark. The Bearcats added another score just minutes later, but not without a trio of responses from Oberlin.

Leading by double-digits, the home team tacked on goals from Jack Duffy and Drew Morrison, who notches his first of the season. Sam Ryu scored next, just before Jackson Davies connected with Aidan Johnston for the final goal of the contest.

Oberlin carries the 15-3 win into the weekend, where they host Albion for their final game of their week-long home stand. Set for Saturday, March 15, Oberlin and the Brits faceoff at 2 p.m.
