Oberlin Falls Behind Against DePauw

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's basketball team fell at home against the DePauw Tigers on Saturday afternoon. The 80-68 final sees the Yeomen move to 10-11 overall and 2-10 in conference play.

JJ Gray and Andrew Gannon led the team with 13 and ten points, respectively. Gannon added another six rebounds and a steal, while Gray pulled in four rebounds and dished out one assist.

With ten rebounds, Milun Micanovic finished just one points shy of a double-double. Yuuki Okubo led the team with six assists and seven points.

Oberlin jumped to action in the opening minutes of the half, beginning the game with a 7-2 run. The Tigers picked up speed to tie the game before the two teams went into a back-and-forth frenzy. With 5:13 remaining, Gray put Oberlin up 28-22. The Tigers responded with eight-straight points to retake the lead. A busy final minute saw DePauw score a triple at the buzzer and hold a 37-33 advantage at the half.

The Tigers carried their momentum into the second half, opening with a slew of buckets to extend their lead to 15. The Crimson and Gold chipped away at the lead until a tip-in by Micanovic brought Oberlin within five of DePauw. Unfortunately for the Yeomen, the Tigers had more in their tank and knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the following possessions. With a lead as great as 17, DePauw held their lead through the final minutes.

The Yeomen head to Hiram for their next match, on Wednesday, February 12. The late tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
