Hiram, Ohio – Grabbing their first win against Hiram this season, the Oberlin College men's basketball team dominated for a 69-58 win on Wednesday night. The victory lifts the team to 11-1 overall and 3-10 in NCAC action.
Notching his fourth double-double of the season,
Milun Micanovic led the team with ten rebounds, in addition to ten points.
Yuuki Okubo and
JJ Gray split scoring duties with 13 points apiece, while Okubo added another six assists.
Zach Bronson and
Will Bousquette III dished out multiple assists as well, at four and two, respectively.
The Yeomen started the game as they usually do, jumping out to an early lead on a layup from
Zach Smith. Micanovic extended the lead to four before the Terriers finally got on the board. With a slew of three-pointers,
Asaan Snipes-Rea, Bousquette III, and
Jackson Reynolds lifted the Crimson and Gold to an eight-point lead.
Andrew Gannon put Oberlin up 37-25 just ahead of the half, but a triple form Hiram at the buzzer cut into Oberlin's lead at the break.
Oberlin carried their momentum over into the second half where Okubo's three-pointer at 15:14 led to another pair of threes in the next minute. Up 56-37, the Yeomen cruised through the final ten minutes of the game, holding on to their double-digit lead through the end.
The Yeomen return home for their next match when they celebrate their seniors on Saturday, February 15 against Wittenberg. Senior Day celebrations will take place prior to tip-off, which is set for 4 p.m.
