Canton, Ohio - Concluding the final sessions of the three-day Malone Invitational, the Oberlin College men's swim and dive team finished second overall while the women's team placed fifth. The men's team registered 1,203 points to secure the runner-up title in a field of 14 teams, while the women's team produced 807 points to place fifth among the 15 competing teams. Division II Gannon clinched the team titles on both the men's and women's side, totaling 1,929.5 points and 1,552 points, respectively. 

Opening the final day with the longest race, Katherine Noller clocked in a time of 18:53.49, which led the first-year to a seventh-place finish. Continuing his winning streak, Chahine Saïd claimed the title in the 1650-yard freestyle, delivering a time of 16:12.53. Oberlin continued to dominate in the distance event as Miguel Siwady claimed the runner-up finish, touching the wall in 16:19.43.

Rookies Martin Gomez (17:14.10) and Philip Cauwels also performed well in the 1650 free, posting 12th and 14th-place finishes, respectively, with Cauwels notching a personal-best 17:35.35. In the 200-yard backstroke, Yasmeen Boulaknadal placed as Oberlin's top finisher, recording a time of 2:20.08 and placing 14th. Hailey Hamilton trailed right behind Boulaknadal, notching a 2:20.37. 

James Moll produced a runner-up finish among a competitive field in the 200 back, tapping in at 1:52.77, while Gomez finished sixth overall with a 1:59.83. In the 100-yard freestyle, Ari Marrero clocked in a time of 55.15 to earn a 14th-place finish. Capitalizing on the momentum in the men's 100 free, Zach Black (47.73) and Kye Marrero (48.25) placed 12th and 14th, respectively, with Black earning a personal record.

Clinching the highest finish for the Crimson and Gold in the 200-yard breaststroke, Soomin Yoo touched the wall with a personal-best 2:31.33, placing eighth overall. In the men's 200 breaststroke, Charles Matia posted a fifth-place finish with a 2:06.80 personal record. 

In the 200-yard butterfly, Kendall McKelvey notched a 2:25.26 to place eighth. In the men's 200 fly, Leo Powers earned a third-place finish by registering a 1:56.57. Coming up next for Oberlin, Emerson Rutherford-Parish placed ninth with a 2:01.14. 

Opening relay action in the 400 freestyle relay, the quartet of A. Marrero, Yoo, Gretchen Lotter, and Nyrobi Whitfield swam to a fifth-place finish, delivering a 3:44.55. In the men's 400 free relay, Saïd, Black, K. Marrero, and Moll secured the silver finish with a 3:06.71. 

Placing as the Crimson and Gold's top performer in the men's three-meter board, Sebastian Lagasse registered a final score of 278.80 to place third. 

Oberlin will hang their caps for the remainder of the 2025 year until they return to the pool in the new year at Ohio Wesleyan. The North Coast opener is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
