Wooster, Ohio - The Oberlin College women's tennis team continued its impressive start to the season, racking up 11 victories at the Wooster Invitational on Saturday.
Six different players earned a win in singles action. First-year
Eva Lopez was an 8-6 victor over Sarah Sgambati of John Carroll while
Freya Rahm also downed Payton Sikora of JCU, 8-2. Transfer
Rachel Allen completed the bouncing of the Blue Streaks, upending Felicity Kolb 8-5.
Olivia Wollner dispatched Wooster's Elyse Errington with ease, 8-1, and
Moe Ariyoshi handled the Scots' Mia Smith 8-3. The winning over Wooster rolled on with senior
Anna Pastore making short work of Janaki Jagannathan, 8-1.
In doubles action, Allen and Rahm set aside Jagannathan and Errington, 6-3. Switching partners in the second round of doubles, Allen and Lopez also bested Jagannatha and Errington, 6-1.
Pastore and Lopez followed with a 6-3 triumph over Sikora and Caroline Chandler. Pastore would later team up with
Scarlett Kingston to earn a 6-4 win against Sikora and Madi Davila of John Carroll.
Finishing out the winning was Ariyoshi and Wollner as they bageled Errington and Mia Smith, 6-0.
The Yeowomen will be back in action at the ITA Regionals September 27-29 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
