RICHMOND, IN – In their first of two neutral matches this weekend, the Oberlin College field hockey team fell 10-0 to NCAA DII Maryville on Saturday afternoon.
A mainstay for the Crimson and Gold defense,
Janny McCormick earned the start in cage for Oberlin. She was relieved by newcomer
Willow Maniscalco in the final quarter. McCormick led the duo with eight saves in the contest.
Assisting in the defense-heavy match,
Meaghan Kramer tallied her first defensive save of the season in the third quarter.
After nearly ten minutes of scoreless action, the Saints tallied their first goal in the ninth minute. The Yeowomen held Maryville scoreless through the rest of the first quarter, but the Saints stormed back to take a 5-0 lead at the half.
The balanced march of the Saints saw another five goals conceded by the Crimson and Gold offense, as the DII competition cruised to a 10-0 win.
Facing a quick turnaround, Oberlin returns to DIII competition with Wilson tomorrow, Saturday, September 7 at 2 p.m.
