All-NCAC Teams
Westlake, Ohio - Despite finishing second in the conference in batting average (.429) and total hits (69), Oberlin College's record-breaking freshman first basemen
Kyle Baxt was voted by the league's coaches to just the North Coast Athletic Conference third-team.
Baxt, who broke the Yeomen's single-season hits record by six to erase Brendan Mapes '19 previous school-best mark of 63, had 20 multi-hit games on the season and had at least one hit in 35 games while starting all 39. He had three or more hits in a game 10 times this season.
A native of Wellington, Florida, Baxt started his career with a 17-game hit streak before it was ultimately halted on March 28 in the second game of a doubleheader against Maryville.
Not eligible for NCAC Newcomer of the Year consideration due to his third-team designation, Baxt ended the regular season ahead of Denison's Jack Lutte in several key statistical categories, including batting average (.429-.414), home runs (4-0), total hits (69-53), total bases (92-72) and at-bats (161-128). Lutte, who was selected as the league's Newcomer of the Year, edged the Oberlin rookie in doubles (14-11) and RBIs (34-32).
Finishing ahead of NCAC Player of the Year Eric Colaco in batting average (.429-.422), Baxt is currently tied for 32nd in the nation in the category and is ranked 23rd in total hits (69). Additionally, Baxt was one of 23 players in the country to have six or more hits in a game this season.
Baxt ended his year ahead of first-team first baseman Noah Lieb in batting average (.429-.360) while matching the senior with four home runs. Furthermore, he bested Wittenberg's Xander Rodriguez, who earned second-team honors after batting .358 with 48 hits in the regular season.
Fellow rookie
Brady Groves, who had 60 hits and finished eighth in the conference with a .382 batting average while setting the school record with seven triples, did not earn postseason recognition from the league's coaches despite having the second-highest batting average of any outfielder in the conference.
Baxt and Groves helped the Yeomen earn 15 wins this season, four more than the season prior.
