#14 Denison Trips Up Oberlin Tennis

GRANVILLE, OH- Suffering a loss against the best team in the conference and the #14 team in the nation, the Oberlin College men's tennis team lost to Denison 9-0 on Sunday afternoon.
 
Both the No. 1 and the No. 3 doubles teams were swept against the Big Red, beginning with the rookie pairing of Ben Tichauer and David Mnuskin, who took an 8-0 loss in the third slot. Shawn Lisann and Sebastien Naginski went 8-0 in the top slot against Ethan Green and Kael Shah, who are ranked eighth in the nation as a doubles pairing
 
In the No. 2 match, Zain Makada and Rohan Gold put up a front against the Big Red but ultimately could not topple the national powerhouse and lost 8-3.
 
Taking on the 19th-ranked singles player in the nation, Gold fell 6-0, 6-2 against Shah just after Mnuskin lost 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 5 match.
 
Making his conference debut, Tory Johansson played in the No. 6 spot, where he grabbed a handful of games but ultimately lost 6-1, 6-3. Makada then fell 6-1, 6-1 to Jacob Patterson in the No. 3 flight, who carries a #36 national ranking.
 
In the No. 4 singles match, Tichauer battled in the opening set against Anthony Payiavlas, only falling 6-4. The Big Red opponent stormed back in the second set to win 6-1 and clinch the match. Naginski suffered a setback in the No. 2 singles match after losing 6-2, 6-3 to Ethan Green (#19), another Denison player ranked inside the top-20.
 
The Yeowomen will take a well-deserved rest before returning to NCAC action when they host Wittenberg at home on Saturday, April 20. The first serve is set to go up at 3 p.m.
