Oberlin Drops Nail-Biter to Wooster

Oberlin, Ohio – Hosting Wooster in a match that went down to the wire, the Oberlin College field hockey team fell to the Fighting Scots 1-0 in a penalty shootout. The Yeowomen tallied but drop to 0-8, and 0-5 in conference play.

Oberlin faced off against Wooster in a hard-fought contest that ultimately ended in a 1-0 defeat after a nail-biting shootout.

While both teams displayed incredible defensive prowess throughout regulation, Oberlin's goalkeeper, Janny McCormick, stood out with an impressive 14 saves, keeping the Yeowomen in contention through two overtime periods.

Having a career night on defense, Johana Horvath tallied a trio of defensive stops, aided by Elly Scheer and Meaghan Kramer who each tallied a defensive save of their own.

Despite Wooster's relentless pressure, outshooting Oberlin 32-8, the Yeowomen held strong, forcing the match into a shootout after 60 minutes of play. Unfortunately, Oberlin couldn't capitalize on their chances in the shootout, with all three attempts missing the mark. Wooster, on the other hand, found the net three times, securing the victory.

Oberlin stays home for their next match when they take on Denison next Thursday, October 10. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
